The perch lake

Lac des Perches, also known as Sternsee, nestles in an ancient glacial cirque; it is thought to have been formed by volcanic activity.
Accessible only on foot, this site remains largely unspoilt, and there are several hiking trails leading to it. The most scenic walk is known as the ‘Circuit des 3 Lacs’, which also takes you to the other two lakes, the Neuweiher, at an altitude of 880 metres.
Activities: fishing, hiking (swimming is prohibited at your own risk).
Access: on foot only, a 1-hour walk from Neuweiher and a 40-minute walk from the Riesenwald farm inn.

Camping is strictly prohibited both on the lakeshore and in the surrounding area.
