Description Opening times

Muttersholtz, French capital of biodiversity 2017 and positive energy territory, is one of the most important communes of the Ried.

Muttersholtz has a rich heritage, including two churches. The oldest church in Muttersholtz is the current Protestant church. Before the Reformation, it was dedicated to Saint Urbain. In 1684, the Simultaneum was established here: the Protestants used the nave, while the Catholics used the choir until 1891, when the new Saint Urbain church was built.
In the centre of the village, stroll through the streets to discover the farms and houses in Alsatian style and head towards the dykes of the Ill which offer a privileged observation point on the Ried plain and an ideal setting for walks.

The Commune of Muttersholtz offers a wide variety of routes to discover its exceptional environment, adapted to all tastes, from family walks to more sportive ones, from 2 to 9 km long.

In the hamlet of Ehnwihr, which is part of the municipality of Muttersholtz, do not miss the Maison de la Nature du Ried et de l'Alsace Centrale. A nature and environment initiation centre which offers numerous educational activities on natural environments. Come and awaken your senses with the SensoRied barefoot trail: unusual and fun!

Ehnwihr is also known for its Ried boatman who makes his own boats and takes tourists on a lovely trip on the Ill. An opportunity to learn more about the history of the boatmen, the particularities of the Ried and its rich flora and fauna.
