Exhibition: Pechelbronn reveals itself

With this open-air photography exhibition, immerse yourself in the unique history of oil production in Northern Alsace. Along the route through the streets of Merkwiller and neighboring towns, about fifteen banners featuring more than sixty historic photographs highlight the locations of sites—some still in existence, others long gone. These images serve as a reminder of the extraordinary development of this industry, which is so distinctive and unique in France.

This exhibition complements the photographs displayed around the perimeter of the Carreau Clemenceau, a site where liquid crude oil was extracted via mine tunnels beginning in 1917.
