A lecture offered as part of the thematic program on the history of the Habsburgs in Ensisheim, led by Yves Moritz, author of *Dictionnaire de la guerre de Trente Ans*.
With a background in economics from Paris-Dauphine University and HEC, Yves Moritz grew up in a family of industrialists and spent 20 years working within the Tréca Group (wire drawing, cable manufacturing, mattresses, box springs, and automotive seats). Over the next 20 years, he founded and developed, on his own, a professional media group by successively acquiring and launching a dozen publications in the fashion and luxury sectors.
Since 2020, drawing on his Alsatian family’s heritage, Yves Moritz has been pursuing his passion for the history of Franco-German relations since the 19th century.
He is also the author of the Dictionary of the War of 1870, the Dictionary of the Annexation of Alsace and the Moselle from 1871 to 1918, the *Dictionary of Bismarck*, the *Dictionary of the Occupation of Alsace and the Moselle from 1940 to 1945*, and the *Dictionary of the Thirty Years’ War, 1618–1648*. He has also published two alternate-history novels: *If France Had Won the War of 1870* and *If the Congress of Vienna Had Been Held in Versailles*.
For his work as a writer and lecturer, Yves Moritz has been honored by the Association de la Renaissance Française, from which he received the gold medal.
