A stone, a sheet of paper, a little ink and a chemical reaction: that’s the magic of lithography. Invented in Germany, this printing technique took its first steps in Alsace in the 19th century thanks to the famous Mulhouse native Godefroy Engelmann. In Guebwiller, the first workshop was established not far from Neuenburg Castle, paving the way for three lithographers, some of whose works are on display in the exhibition.
