Starting in early August, the eleventh International Summer Academy on the Rhine will take place in Rheinbischofsheim (for more information, visit www.isar-rheinau.com). Selected young singers and accompanists from around the world will travel to Rheinau at that time to receive guidance from first-rate instructors. The goal is to improve their vocal technique, interpretation, and stage presence, as well as to expand their repertoire. Over the course of two weeks, under the direction of Jean-Noël Briend, participants will receive instruction in various languages from renowned figures in the opera world.

For this year’s academy, Jean-Noël Briend, tenor and professor at the École normale de musique de Paris, has invited, among others, Kanako Nakagawa-Bräkow, pianist and lecturer in vocal accompaniment at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and the Karlsruhe University of Music; choreographer, director, and dancer Arila Siegert; soprano Judith Gauthier; and conductor Etienne Ferrer.
To conclude the program and showcase what they’ve learned, the participants will perform on August 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Graf-Reinhard-Halle in Rheinbischofsheim. They will be supported by the Rheinbischofsheim Men’s Chorus, Stadtkultur Rheinau, and the City of Rheinau.

Advance ticket sales for the Opera Night on August 8, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) have begun. Tickets can be purchased at the Rheinau City Office, at Zumkeller Household Goods, and on Reservix.
