Here lie the seven airmen killed in the crash of their four-engined Avro Lancaster bomber of the 7th Squadron Royal Air Force. Their serial aircraft No. JB 719 fell on the night of 24/25 April 1944 500 metres from here on the station area. It was on a raid on Karlasruhe and collided with another Lancaster of the 626th Squadron which fell at Haguenau with 7 more casualties. The P/O Brenton bomber was Canadian and the other six crew members were British.
