Feast of Saint Lucia and the Hoellegeichter

"Feast of Saint Lucia and the Hoellegeichter" is a festival organised by the Soufflenheim OMACL. The name refers to the nickname of the people of Soufflenheim, the "Hellegeischter", which goes back to the dawn of time. Local potters used to fire their wares in wood-fired kilns, which belched fire down their chimneys. These gigantic wisps of smoke impressed and frightened strangers, especially those passing close to the village. Throughout the evening, the village potters will be welcoming you to their candlelit workshops. They'll be showing off their skills with demonstrations and offering mulled wine and bredele.
