Log Driving Museum

Log driving was a major industry for many people in Steinmauern. The logs of trees felled in the Black Forest were floated down to the river mouth in Steinmauern. The Museum displays information panels and original artefacts telling the story of log driving: boots, nails and antique wood- working tools. Slide shows and a model provide an impressive picture of the log- driving industry from felling timber in the Black Forest to building immense rafts.
