Description

This suggested itinerary taking 17 days has been designed according to accommodation and tour options and combines all of the long-distance hiking itineraries. It can be tackled as a whole or in stages as it crosses railway lines and bus routes in Lauterbourg, Wissembourg, Niederbronn-les-Bains, Wimmenau, Saverne, Wangenbourg-Engenthal, Urmatt, Schirmeck, Barr, Villé and Châtenois / Sélestat. The majority of these towns and villages have direct connections with Strasbourg.
The Porte de Landau
The Porte de Landau (1708), a witness to the Vauban epoch, is built on medieval fortifications. A sun sculpted on one side of the gate recalls the oath of allegiance to the King of France in 1680.
Upstairs in an exhibition room is a model of the town's fortifications, based on plans from 1782, and documents tracing the town's history.
