Benfeld's Synagogs

The synagogue was built in 1846 and extended in 1876. In 1895 it was fitted with a Wetzel mechanical transmission organ. Decorated with a series of remarkable frescoes by the artist Achille Metzger in 1922, it is the only synagogue in Alsace which was not desecrated by the Nazis.
