The Synagogue was built in 1738. By 1840 it was in ruins, and a new one was built in 1849. It became the property of the commune in 1956 and is now a music school, which is still in operation. The Jewish presence is attested in the second half of the 17th century. By the 18th century, between 150 and 160 Jews were living in the village, and the community had grown in size and organized itself for an intellectual and religious life. By 1808, the number had risen to 240. In 1843, the synagogue was reported to be in very poor condition, and a new one was inaugurated in 1894. All that remains of this community are a few cult objects in the Wasselonne synagogue and the Musée d'Arts et Traditions populaires in Marmoutier.
