The Round Tower

In the Middle Ages the town of Wasselonne was defended by a castle built on the heights overlooking the town. Today, only the gateway to this castle survives, surmounted by a square tower, former home of the town’s bailiff, along with a few sections of the perimeter wall and a round tower.

The partially demolished round tower was distinguished by its diameter (12 m) and its imposing height (20m). It incorporated several firing positions, and the gun room was equipped with 3 cannons capable of being fired in three different directions.


You can see it only from outside
