Wingersheim

Around the 13th century, the commune was renowned for its wine. Today, hops, the green gold of the region, are its main source of wealth (10% of its surface area is cultivated with hops). A little anecdote: Alain Bashung, the French singer-songwriter and actor who died in 2009, spent the first years of his youth on the farm known as 's Baschungs with his adoptive grandmother (on his father's side) Elisabeth Battenstein, born on 26 March 1897 in Düsseldorf.
