The year 1682 marked for Willgottheim the beginning of a long period of prosperity and prestige after a period of war between Louis XIV and the Emperor of Austria. The French administration opened a Post Office (two buildings still exist today), where stagecoaches and other postal carriages changed carriages and set off again with fresh horses to Saverne or Stutzheim. These relays also practised the hotel business. The buildings of the two relays are still visible: the upper one, the former Auberge Au Pied de Bœuf, restored by its owner, and the lower one, the Posthof with a large porch which is currently being refurbished. Marie Lescinska, daughter of the King of Poland, future Queen of France by her marriage to Louis XV, spent the night of 17 August 1725 at the Relais du Haut (Auberge Au Pied de Bœuf). Marie Antoinette, future queen of France by her marriage with Louis XVI stayed at the Relais du Bas (we will retain some names still common in the Kochersberg of Postmasters of Post, including Pierre Ott, Michel Lorentz Auberge du Posthof property of Anne-Marie Scherbeck née Lienhart between 1765 and 1768 wife of François Joseph Scherbeck) in 1770. A stone bench recalls the memory of this visit. In the 19th century Willgottheim became the most important commune in the canton, housing a notary's office, of which only the glazed tile turret of the old buildings remains. From this time the village inherited the nickname: "'s klene Baris" (the Little Paris).
In the centre of the village, the farm s'Kaisers houses an old forge and an exhibition of old tools hanging on the walls of the inner courtyard facades.
