Vieux-Thann

The church of Saint-Dominique which dates from the 10th century, was the meeting place of the weavers of the Thann seigniory, and more particularly that of the Brotherhood of Fiddlers of Alsace. See the Holy Sepulcre which dates from the 15th century, the baroque altars, and the splendid “Virgin and Child” outside the church.
The stained glass windows are the most interesting feature of the building : the chancel window which is devoted to the lives of Christ and the virgin Mary, and the Tree of Jesse window, which is said to be one of the finest in Alsace.
For a nice little walk, take the cat’s stairway (the “Katzaschtagla”), go past the rest area (the “Roiplon”) up to the Chapel in the woods (the “Waldkapelle”).
