Aspach-Michelbach

The construction of the dam in 1979 changed drastically the life of this village. The lake used to supply the Mulhouse area with water. This natural reserve became a wintering place for many birds and a goal for walks. No way to have a bath or to camp there! (about one hour and a half) and take binoculars with you, so as to watch at leisure the multitude of birds living there.
Ariovist, German leader of the Sueri tribe, set up his camp at the place called “Guttenburg” at the time of his battle against Caesar, in 58 bc. Besides, tombs have been discovered recently on the Ochsenfeld, near to the disappeared village called Erbenheim.
