Description
The Strasbourg horse market used to be held in this square. It is also here in 1792 that the Marseillaise was sung for the very first time in front of the City Hall. It was written in the night of 25th to 26th April 1792 by Rouget de L’Isle, who was garrisoned in Strasbourg at this time.
