Lisa Barland, a 47-year-old female executive and confirmed single, turns to the services of an escort when she needs to be accompanied by a partner for certain business dinners. One evening, just twenty minutes before a crucial event for her company, her usual date stands her up. Her only option is to ‘hire’ the workman who’s carrying out renovations in her flat as a replacement. Once they’ve got past the culture clash – and their clashing personalities – the situation takes a comically complicated turn when romantic feelings also turn up for dinner.
