What remains of a family when it is based solely on obligation, silence and guilt? Drawing on plot elements from Shakespeare’s King Lear, the author Magali Mougel uses her scathing pen to recount the turmoil of three generations torn apart by a debt that continues to weigh upon them. Until the young Denys, by refusing to bear the burden of this dysfunctional family, gradually opens up the possibility of a free future and brings a glimmer of hope. Thibaut Wenger directs this portrayal of a toxic father’s relationship with his daughter, in a family western set in the heart of the Vosges.
