Whilst Gabriel Pidoux’s brushwork is exquisite, with its myriad shades of colour and light, Jorge Gonzalez Buajasan’s brushstrokes do more than simply provide a pianistic backdrop. A duo with a bright future. Pierre Gervasoni – Le Monde
The 66th edition of the AJAM at the Théâtre municipal de Colmar will get off to a flying start with Gabriel Pidoux, an oboist with an impressive track record who was notably named ‘Instrumental Soloist Revelation’ at the 2020 Victoires de la Musique Classique. Accompanied by the marvellous pianist from the Trio Zeliha, Jorge González Buajasán, the young virtuoso will treat us to a first-rate French programme. An exceptional event!
The French oboe school is one of the most prestigious in the world. Three 20th-century composers – Saint-Saëns, Poulenc and Dutilleux – are inextricably linked to it, having so skilfully brought out the poetry of this marvellous instrument.
These three works, dedicated to the evocative magic of the oboe, will be complemented by two virtuosic pieces designed to dazzle. As for Poulenc’s *Mélancolie*, it will allow us to appreciate the subtle artistry of Jorge González Buajasán.
Gabriel Pidoux, winner of the ‘Revelation of the Year – Instrumental Soloist’ award at the 2020 Victoires de la Musique Classique, and Jorge González Buajasán, a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, have been performing as a duo since 2019. In 2022 and 2026, two critically acclaimed albums bore witness to their close friendship.
This event is exceptional because AJAM, founded in 1960, is already welcoming the third generation of a prestigious line of musicians. Following in the footsteps of the cellist and conductor Roland Pidoux, who was honoured in 1968, and then his son, the cellist and founder of the Trio Wanderer, Raphaël Pidoux, in 2003, the association is now proud to welcome his grandson, Gabriel Pidoux, in turn.
