Jean-Louis Toutain (1948 – 2008), an artist from the Toulouse region, exhibited his works in the streets of Mulhouse city centre in 2000 at the initiative of a Mulhouse gallery owner. The tremendous success of this operation encouraged the City of Mulhouse in following years to continue exhibiting works by local artists during the summer period.
