Fabio Rietti represented Mulhouse's emblematic figures. Among them are industrialists like Samuel Koechlin, Jean-Henri Dollfus and Jean-Jacques Schmalzer, three of the four founders of the first factory producing printed fabrics in 1746, Captain Dreyfus, Jean Henri Lambert, the great scientist of the Age of Enlightenment, the "Milhüser Wagges", the little Mulhouse street urchin and the little Henriette Reber, the first child born after reunification with France, on 15 March 1798.
