To mark the fifth anniversary of the creation of the European Community of Alsace, Les Dominicains are highlighting a musical tradition deeply rooted in the Alsace region: that of concert bands.
For this event, the Écho de Turckheim brings together more than sixty musicians for a program that showcases the full richness of this collective art form. Under the direction of passionate musicians, brass, woodwinds, and percussion showcase their full power and nuance in a varied repertoire.
The program will feature, among other pieces, Leonard Bernstein’s *Candide Overture*, Thierry Deleruyelle’s *Compostela*, Eric Whitacre’s *Lux Aurumque*, Franco Cesarini’s *Tom Sawyer Suite*, Christopher Tin’s *Yetu*, and John Williams’s *Cantina Band*.
This concert celebrates both musical excellence and the joy of playing together, as well as the tradition and collective commitment that keep Alsatian wind ensembles alive. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience the full energy of a large ensemble in the remarkable acoustics of the Dominican Church.
The concert is also part of an open house event offering a chance to explore different aspects of the Convent, including a guided tour, the Convent’s Guinguette, and access to the Summer Refectory.
