With Philippe Randin, director of the association Nouvelle Planète
Since 1986, this organization has supported initiatives launched by marginalized communities living in rural areas of disadvantaged and remote regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America, with the aim of strengthening their autonomy and resilience and protecting their environment.
The projects supported focus on food sovereignty, education, water, sanitation, and hygiene.
To mark Nouvelle Planète’s 40th anniversary, the Maison Albert Schweitzer is hosting an exhibition through December 23, 2026, that traces the organization’s various activities. It is also in this context that its director, Philippe Randin, will do us the honor of presenting a lecture:
“Respecting Life”: From the Thought of Albert Schweitzer to the Projects of Nouvelle Planète
This lecture explores the connection between Albert Schweitzer’s philosophy and the work of Nouvelle Planète, centered on the principle of “respect for life.” It demonstrates how this ethic is concretely applied in projects grounded in active listening, respect for local communities, accountability, and the pursuit of sustainable solutions.
