The 15th Muhlbach-sur-Munster Transhumance Festival will be held on October 2 and 3, 2026 by the Muhlbach-sur-Munster Festival Committee, with the participation of several local organizations.
New this year: come welcome the herds starting on Friday, October 2, 2026 and enjoy a mountain-themed evening!
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, you can celebrate the descent of the herds of cows to the farms in the valley, after their summer stay in the high Vosges mountains.
The herds will stop in Muhlbach-sur-Munster, coming from the Munster, Saint-Amarin, and La Bresse valleys. The procession of Vosges cows, as well as Brown Swiss and other breeds, promises to be a colorful spectacle: some 200 animals will noisily make their way through the village streets to the sound of cowbells and cowbells on their horns. You can join them along the route.
This festive day is an opportunity to take part in an amazing folk show, to celebrate the folklore and traditions of the Marcaires, and to discover the Vosges cows, which are being honored on this occasion.
