Bike tour : The medieval villages

From Ribeauvillé, city of the minstrels, the loop crosses the vineyards and the many architectural and medieval treasures of the emblematic villages of the Alsace Wine Route. The tour also allows you to discover Alsace's vineyards, the richness of its terroir and, in particular, its many Grands Crus. The route ends on the Roman road already used in ancient times to avoid the flooding of the Rhine and its tributaries.

Ribeauvillé: In the Middle Ages, the town was the seat of the Lordship of the Ribeaupierre family, who gave their name to the town. From its medieval fortifications, Ribeauvillé retains part of its ramparts and some of its defensive towers. The Grand'rue and its picturesque quarters are lined with flower-filled half-timbered houses and Renaissance-style fountains.

Saint-Jacques le Majeur church: This unique architectural ensemble, comprising a 15th-century fortified church and cemetery, overlooks the village, which is classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France". Simultaneum (Protestant and Catholic worship in the same church), introduced in Hunawihr in 1687, is still in force today.
