Schlossel

The Schlössel is a place where the church, the old cemetery and the presbytery are located on a small hill against the Klosterwald. In the past, the Schlössel was a stronghold surrounded by fortifications which can still be seen in the old cemetery and by a ditch called "Kirchgraben" (church ditch). This ditch was filled in by Mr Kammer between 1955 and 1963. We also find, in the work of Abbot Nartz, the description of the place: "If it was prior to the enclosure of the village itself, it consisted of the whole enclosure including the church, the rector's house, the cemetery, all duly protected by ditches and ramparts".
