Saint Pierre Bois

Located in the heart of the Villé valley, Saint-Pierre-Bois has a rich heritage to offer. Nestled in rolling countryside, the village offers a peaceful setting for discovery, walks and immersion in local culture. The village is dominated by the hilltop church of Saint Gilles, dating from 1788. It houses two relics of the saint, once invoked against ear diseases, and remains the center of the September 1st pilgrimage, still very popular today. The hill also offers a remarkable view of the village and its surroundings.


Every summer, it becomes the stage for the Nuits de Saint-Gilles, an open-air show that attracts locals and visitors alike for festive evenings, combining horse shows, dance, music, water games and live arts.


Another of the village's jewels, the Maison des Suédois, an ancient residence built in 1571, is said to have served as the headquarters of Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War, and is one of the few houses spared from the conflict. A place steeped in history, it completes the village's heritage and invites you to make an original and fascinating discovery.
