Saint-Materne Church

The church, dedicated to Saint Materne, is situated a little apart, dominating the surrounding houses. The first thing to notice is the modest square bell tower with its pointed roof, covered with slates, ending with the cross surmounted by the weathervane rooster.
On the base of the façade, the date of construction, 1858, appears in an indentation in the door. The building consists of a rectangular nave which ends at the front with a pink sandstone forecourt from which three steps give access to the choir. A stuccoed triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir. On either side, the two side altars are dedicated to the Virgin and Joseph. The church in Neubois has the only Callinet organ in the valley, one of the few in the Lower Rhine. The instrumental part of the organ was classified as a Historic Monument in 1978.
