Les Amis de la Maison du Val de Villé

Founded in 1980, the association was born of a shared desire to safeguard and promote the heritage, traditions and historical memory of the Vallée de Villé. This initiative brought together local politicians, associations such as the Société d'Histoire du Val de Villé, and passionate volunteers determined to keep local culture alive.


Based in Albé, the association runs a museum that recounts the daily life of its inhabitants from the 18th to the end of the 19th century. Set in the heart of an ancient architectural ensemble, including a converted former town hall, a 1616 day laborer's house, a 1709 Vosges farmhouse, a distillery and a guardhouse, the museum offers visitors an immersive journey back in time.


In addition to preserving period objects and tools, the association brings these collections to life through historical events, temporary exhibitions and demonstrations of traditional crafts. These include a still, a bread oven and a 19th-century weaving loom, all of which are still in working order.


The association's mission is to raise public awareness of local history, pass on knowledge of the past and promote understanding of the present through the preservation of the Vallée de Villé's traditions and cultural heritage.
