Hausbergen Hills

The towns of Oberhausbergen, Mittelhausbergen, Niederhausbergen and Mundolsheim are at the base (and up to mid-height) of the hills of Hausbergen, on the southwestern edge of the loess hills of Kochersberg.

They form the highest point of the Eurometropolis, providing a unique view of Strasbourg and the Black Forest to the east, and of Kochersberg and the Vosges to the west. The site, with its vegetable and flower gardens, sunken paths and wooded areas formed by former military fortifications, is a popular destination for strolling.  The area boasts an exceptionally diverse range of plants and wildlife.

From Mittelhausbergen, you can take the ancient Klamm trail. This deeply incised dirt path, running between two clay cliffs, was part of a network of heavily travelled roads connecting Strasbourg to its granary, the Kochersberg, as well as to the old Vosges Pass.
