Lecture: Little-known Christmas traditions

Christmas Eve/Wihnachta is a marvellous night that is quite out of the ordinary. Indeed, it marked the transition from the old year to the new. At the stroke of midnight, fruit trees begin to blossom and animals are granted the gift of speech… It is the night when heaven and earth meet, and it is possible to foresee the future by observing certain plants. It also marks the start of the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany, which symbolise the new year to come. It is a collection of beliefs and traditions waiting to be rediscovered.

The talk will be followed by the opening of the refreshment bar to create a chance for socialising and conversation.
