According to the geographer and historian Herodotus, Aphrodite is said to be the daughter of Astarte, the Mesopotamian goddess of love and war. Born on Cythera, she later migrated to Cyprus around the 6th century BC. This move from one island to another illustrates a major revolution in human history: the advent of scientific thought, which explains the mysteries of the world not through gods or spirits, but through laws.
The lecture will be followed by the opening of the refreshment bar to provide an opportunity for socialising and discussion.
