Birkenwald

The village of Birkenwald, between grasslands and forest at the foot of the Vosges, had a population of 214 at the last census. Nestling in the valley formed by the Sommerau, it is a pleasant and peaceful village ideal for an invigorating visit. Among its attractions are the XVIth century château (a listed historic monument and privately owned), Saint-Louis’ church, the 1758 mission cross and the Notre-Dame chapel (1751).
