Description Équipements et services Opening times

Our understanding of the ancient settlement of Sarre-Union and its activities is growing, yet many questions remain unanswered, and numerous aspects elude us (street layout? presence of a public center? necropolis? water supply? …) due to a severe lack of data. Too few areas have been archaeologically investigated, and the scope of the excavations has been too limited. Furthermore, many remains were destroyed during the construction of the medieval town, and modern and contemporary urban development has largely taken place without any archaeological supervision (or was carried out as a “remedial measure” only after the structures had already been largely destroyed). Paul Nüsslein—President of the Société de Recherche Archéologique d’Alsace Bossue—accompanied by Antoine Nowakowski.
