Oberroedern

Like many other villages in the region, Oberrœdern was marked by the fighting in January 1945 during the Second World War.
To better understand this period in history, immerse yourself in the daily life of a soldier by visiting the Rieffel Casemate, which was renovated in 2008 but still bears traces of the fighting in 1940.

This fortification was one of five structures in the main line of defense between the Schœnenbourg artillery fort and the Hatten shelter. It was entrusted to a crew of 24 men under the command of Lieutenant Rieffel, who was responsible for defending the Oberrœdern casemate.
