Description

This lavoir, or public washing place, is difficult to date : it could be from the 19th or 20th century. A similar lavoir is to be found at Gunstett, on the banks of the Sauer, supported by wooden posts resting on cement piling sunk in the water. There is a system of levers and chains that allow the platform on which the washerwomen worked, to be raised or lowered. The roof has two faces with mechanically produced tiles.
