Description

The area around Gumbrechtshoffen was widely populated in the Gallo-Roman period, but the first written records of the village date from 1109: it was owned at that time by the Dukes of Lorraine and the Landgraves of Lower Alsace. Most of the architectural heritage is made up of farms from the 18th and 19th centuries and, more particularly, a flour mill mentioned as early as 1630, which was restored at the end of the 18th century. The famous cracker and bretzel manufacturer, Bœhli, left its mark on the industrial fabric of the village until it relocated to Gundershoffen in 1998.
