Windstein

Windstein is situated in a beautiful valley at the foot of the "Vieux Windstein" (1205) and "Nouveau Windstein" (1340) chateaus, both standing on amazing rocks, miracles of nature. Jaegerthal, cradle of the iron industry in this region, is one of the most picturesque sites on the outskirts of Niederbronn-les-Bains. There are ruins of the first ironworks in the region (1602), reflected in a romantic stretch of water. Also to be seen: the chateau, ancient home of the De Dietrich family (not open to the public).
