Mad Knacks transforms the Tuilerie de Still into an alien hunting ground. To celebrate its fifth anniversary, the organization has created an immersive adventure combining exploration, puzzles, strategy, and a giant game of hide-and-seek. Here, there’s no set route: participants are free to move about as they please. The problem is, so are the aliens.
No set route. No guaranteed hiding spots.
For one hour, participants will freely explore the grounds to find and solve puzzles, score as many points as possible, and complete their missions. It’s up to them to choose their path, devise a strategy, and—most importantly—stay discreet.
Because the aliens will also be moving freely around the venue. They won’t follow any predefined route and will know every nook and cranny of the venue.
A blend of escape room, giant hide-and-seek, and certain video game mechanics, Mad Alien builds on the principle successfully tested in Mad Inferno: giving more freedom to the players—but also to the creatures hot on their heels.
“ Players won’t follow a linear path. We wanted to create an even more immersive game, one in which everyone makes their own decisions and truly lives the adventure. Depending on the participants’ choices and strategies, each game can take a different turn,” explains Adèle Masson, project manager at Mad Knacks.
Hippies, aliens… What could possibly go wrong?
It all begins with a group of friendly hippies singing “Kumbaya” around a campfire. A guitar, a starry sky, blissful smiles: the perfect evening in the 1970s.
Then a strange light appears above them.
Convinced they’re witnessing humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization, our hippies welcome the newcomers with open arms. Bad idea. These aliens didn’t come to make a friendly visit or go for a bike ride, and the evening quickly turns into a bloodbath.
The military has begun to cordon off the area, but they’re already overwhelmed. So they’re calling on civilians to explore the area and carry out the necessary missions. Meet the new recruits: poorly trained, highly motivated, and completely expendable.
Their goal will be to score as many points as possible while avoiding detection. And, if possible, to avoid ending up on the menu.
A historic site transformed into a mission zone
Following the success of Mad Inferno in 2025, Mad Knacks will return to the Tuilerie Sonntag in Still, a historic industrial site that the team fell in love with. Its buildings and outdoor spaces will be transformed into a veritable Alsatian Area 51.
A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Tuilerie Sonntag to help preserve and enhance the site.
Mad Knacks Celebrates Five Years of Adventures
Founded in 2021, Mad Knacks creates immersive experiences that blend games, live performances, puzzles, and the exploration of historic sites. With Mad Alien, the organization will celebrate its fifth anniversary, its fifth major Mad’Venture, and its 32nd event. Several thousand participants have already taken part in its creations in Alsace, which are always designed with the same irreverent, artisanal spirit and a focus on audience engagement.
