Carrefour de la chapelle

The chapel once housed a 17th-century polychrome wooden Pietà, which was replaced by a statue of the Virgin Mary. The original Pietà is on display at the Chartreuse Museum in Molsheim. Legend has it that this statue appeared at the canal lock after a violent storm, carried by the waves. The lock keeper is said to have heard a melodious song that led him to the statue, which he then fished out of the water.
