This large sundial from 1703 takes up about four square meters of space on the wall of the local hospital. Its author was Father Constantius, a Capuchin monk. The dial plate features declination lines, which appear in both light and dark version. Details were corrected thanks to successive renovations.
Inside the cloister garden stands a second dial from 1666, carved into a sandstone block, on top of a column.
These sundials are a reminder of how important the passage of time was to the Carthusian monks, who had to make a subsistence needed for performing their duty of hospitality.
