Description

Follow in the footsteps of the 19th-century letter carrier. As he made his way through the forest, he stopped off in villages and isolated forest houses. On his way, a Roman ruin today known as "le petit château du Meisenbach".
Situated at the top of a rocky spur, at the foot of which flows the Meisenbach, archaeological traces reveal a rectangular-plan building with an apse and a staircase.
It was probably a Roman temple from the late 1st or 2nd century AD. Legend has it that it was the hunting castle of the Lords of Hanau, hence its current name.
