Protestant temple

The Prussian army increased its presence in the area after 1870 and decided to erect a temple for the garrison. It was built from 1893 to 1895. The Neo-Medieval style was the style used for all Christian sanctuaries until the end of the century. It appeared for the first time in Haguenau in 1859-60 in the small Protestant temple. Its construction, long resisted by the Catholic community, was authorised by Napoleon III in 1857.
