Here you are in the lands of Salm Castle, today in ruins. In about 1285, Count Henry IV of Salm welcomed the troubadour Jacques Bretel here. A long poem entitled the Tournament of Chauvency with 4,590 verses describes the festivities bringing together the cream of European knights. During a future hike, visit the Poetry Trail linked to this event (available from the Tourist Office or on bit.ly/brochuresOTVB).
