Solbach

The villages of Alsace were ravaged by terrible suffering during the Thirty Years War. But at this altitude, Solbach enjoyed a remote location and was almost hidden, so that the village sometimes escaped from the terrors of war. However, after being pillaged several times, it is said that Solbach was almost completely destroyed. The inhabitants decided to rebuild the village much higher up, under Col de la Perheux, to conceal it even more from soldiers in the valley.
