Fouday, on the right bank of the Bruche, is part of the old "Ban de la Roche". This region was a Protestant enclave. Here, for 59 years, between the 18th and 19th centuries, Pastor J-F. Oberlin, a pioneer in education for small children, was at work. The grave of Pastor J-F. Oberlin is in the cemetery of Fouday church. The inscription "Papa Oberlin" shows the inhabitants' affection for their pastor.
