Description
Carry on along the path through a Douglas fir plantation. When you leave the plantation, turn left. The path then widens into a track. 250 m further on, at the crossroads, turn right and after 250 m you join up with another forest road (the Kapelbronn road). Carry on towards the right for 100 m.

After 3 km this forest road arrives at the Kappelbronn giant sequoia. The giant tree (56 m high - 7 m in circumference) was planted in 1896, in memory of Louis Butze, a small boy who had died of diphtheria at the age of four. His father, a forest ranger, planted the tree close to his house and to the area where his son would play.
