From 1584, you would have left the Ban de la Roche, which had become Protestant, on the crest after the Haut Lachamp farm. On the other side was the Catholic Ranrupt valley, the property of a series of lords, notably the Habsburg family in the 14^th century. The Ban de la Roche was a Protestant enclave in a mainly Catholic region.
